Introduction to Women's Health Issues

Physical Therapy in Austin for Women's Health Issues

Over their lifetime, women experience changes and different conditions within the body that men never will.  A woman’s body has special characteristics that put it into a class of its own.

Because a woman’s body has certain abilities that a man’s does not, it is obvious why women are susceptible to several health issues and painful conditions that men will never encounter.  Everything from monthly menses to childbirth to menopause, all are natural experiences that women encounter which have the potential to cause discomfort, pain or associated health problems.

Physical Therapy is a fantastic educational, emotional or physical solution that women can turn to when seeking comfort and relief from female-specific problems.  There are numerous treatments and therapies that can assist women when dealing with any female condition, whether it is before, during or after the onset of problematic symptoms.

Tarina has been a true God send for me and my family. After rupturing my C1 in a car wreck I had a cervical fusion performed. My surgeon said the most range of motion I would regain would be 50% at best. After going to the PT that my surgeon referred I had only regained 20% on a good day. Not being satisfied I asked my doctor for a second referral and he sent me to Carter Physiotherapy where I met Tarina. Tarina gave me one-on-one treatment (unlike the previous therapy center where I was simply put in a room with exercises and a therapist would check on you every 20 min or so). Tarina's therapy was comprehensive and unique each week depending on my difficulties during the week and from the exercises she sent me home with. After 3 months of therapy I was at 50% range of motion and beyond that on good days. I can not recommend Tarina and CP enough.

I took PT treatment from Dr. Carter for pain in my left shoulder blade area. It was quite a severe and discomforting pain level that reduced my productivity at work, made it diffcult to drive and overall constrained my normal activities. Through MRIs the pain was diagnosed to be due to pinching of nerves in the cervical vertebrae. Dr. Carter was able to heal me in about 4 sessions of weekly 1 hour sessions. It was my first time ever to go through PT so can't compare him to any prior experience. But I felt he definitely has high level of mastery and skill of the art. Apart from his hands on work of soft tissue massage and some traction, he provided proper guidance to maintaince proper posture, muscle strengthening and range of motion exercises for long term prevention. He is a great conversationalist and keeps his appointments on schedule.
