Introduction to Wrist Issues

Physical Therapy in Austin for Wrist

Welcome to the Carter Physiotherapy’s resource about your wrist.

Wrist injuries are very common because we use our hands and arms for so many of our daily activities, and if we fall, it's most natural for us to put our hands out to catch ourselves or break the fall.  Overuse injuries in the workplace occur frequently in jobs that are repetitive, as in working on a computer or on a line in a factory. Sports injuries to the wrist occur often, they can happen in almost any sport, and are likely to keep you off the field or court while you are healing.

To help you to better understand wrist injuries, their rehab and possibly how to prevent them, we've put together a collection of resources for you to review.  We hope you find them helpful, and feel free to ask your Carter Physiotherapy therapist any questions you might have about something you've read.

If you are on the fence and trying to decide on a clinic in Austin, stop and call Carter Physiotherapy. You do not need to settle for sub par treatment, dictated by insurance and patient quotas. This review has been a long time coming. I had injured my hand lifting in February and contacted Carter Physiotherapy because I believed in the benefits of a cash-based, one on one, physical therapy model. I was not disappointed. In the midst of initial COVID-19 lockdowns, Nick (Nicklaus Biederwolf) worked with me remotely, and later in person, to rehab my hand and get me back to lifting. I'm happy to say that I have been lifting without pain since I finished therapy and my mobility is better than before my injury. I cannot recommend Carter Physiotherapy enough, as a patient, and due to their great reputation among their physical therapy peers.

I’m grateful to Jarod for healing in 1 month a shoulder injury that had persisted for 9 months despite multiple efforts at treatment. I appreciated his daily exercises for me, which were demonstrated clearly and moved my progress along speedily. Jarod also worked skillfully on my chronic TMJ issue with great relief. Despite having insurance coverage with a different PT clinic, I was assured by my referring doctor that Jarod could do more for me in 1month than the clinic could do in 6 months. He was correct. It’s comforting to know that for any future injury I will immediately call Carter Physiotherapy. ROSALINDA H, AUSTIN TX

Great experience with my therapist and Jarod both! 3 months into marathon training my hip flexor area absolutely blew up. He was very helpful, getting me back to training. But an important note – there is no ‘quick fix’ For these types of injuries. He’s good at explaining the function of each muscle and manually working to release. But it’s like school – you HAVE to do the homework assigned! Don’t walk out of the office with a clear understanding of what YOU must do to help them help you. Highly recommended.
